    Recently the Alfred State athletic department hosted their annual end of year awards ceremony. The ceremony held in the Cappadonia Auditorium featured recaps of every team, award presentations, and the honoring of the first group of four-year Pioneer student athletes.

  • Pfleghardt, Braun, and Ramsey Add AVCA Honors

    The Alfred State volleyball trio of Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga), Lera Braun (Waterloo), and Jess Ramsey (Tioga) have added another All-American honor to their resume. The trio was recently named American Volleyball Coaches Association USCAA All-Americans.

    Alfred State volleyball players Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga), Lera Braun (Waterloo), and Jess Ramsey (Tioga) have been named USCAA All-Americans. Pfleghardt was a 1st team selection, Braun a 2nd team, and Ramsey was named honorable mention.

    The Alfred State volleyball team battled tough but was defeated by Ithaca 24-26, 22-25, 20-25 in the semifinals of the ECAC Metro/Upstate Championships. The Lady Pioneers finish the season with a 25-10 mark.

    Alfred State will host the ECAC Metro/Upstate Volleyball Championship on Sunday, Nov. 16th. The Lady Pioneers are the #3 seed and will welcome #1 Ramapo, #2 Ithaca, and #4 Rutgers-Newark.

    The Alfred State volleyball team has earned the #3 seed in the ECAC Metro-Upstate Championships this week. Alfred State has also been chosen to host the semifinals and finals on Sunday, November 16th at the Orvis Activities Center.
  • Houghton Defeats Lady Spikers in Four

    After dropping the first set, Houghton College won the next three to earn a 3-1 victory over Alfred State on Wednesday night. The Lady Pioneers took the opener 26-24 but fell 14-25, 23-25, 18-25 in their final home match of the season.
  • Hamilton Named #PioneerPinpoint Athlete of the Week

    Janae Hamilton (Ellicottville) has been named the #PioneerPinpoint athlete of the week. Hamilton helped the Lady Spikers to a 4th place finish at the USCAA National Championships last week.
  • Lady Spikers Finish 4th at USCAA Nationals

    The Alfred State volleyball team finished 4th at the 2014 USCAA National Championships. The Lady Spikers fell 25-18, 25-13, 25-16 to Florida College in the semifinals and then were defeated by SUNY Canton 25-23, 13-25, 24-26 in the 3rd place match.

    #1 Florida College defeated #3 Alfred State 10-25, 13-25 as both teams closed up pool play at the USCAA National Championships at SUNY Canton. Florida wins the pool with a 4-0 mark while Alfred State finishes 2-2.
  • Lady Spikers Advance to USCAA Semis

    The Alfred State volleyball team defeated Cincinnati Clermont 25-21, 19-25, 26-24, 25-20 in the USCAA National Championship quarterfinals to advance to the Final Four. The Lady Pioneers will take on #1 seed Florida College on Saturday at Noon.
  • Berea Rallies Past Lady Spikers

    The Alfred State volleyball team won 25-17 in the first set but Berea (KY) rallied to win the next two 20-25, 12-15 to earn the victory in a USCAA Championship Pool A match-up. Both teams are now 2-1 in Pool play.
  • Lady Pioneers Sweep USCAA Opener

    The Alfred State volleyball team opened up play at the USCAA National Championships with a 25-23, 25-19 victory over #9 Carlow University. The Lady Pioneers are now 23-4 on the year and continue pool play at 2:30 p.m. vs. Tennessee Temple.

    The Alfred State volleyball team won the final two sets to rally past Tennessee Temple 22-25, 25-18, 15-6 in their second match of pool play at the USCAA Championships. The Lady Spikers finish day one with a 2-0 mark.

    The Alfred State volleyball team split a pair of matches on day two of the St. Joseph's (LI) Tournament. The Lady Pioneers defeated Wilkes 25-23, 31-33,25-17, 25-15 but fell 21-25, 25-14, 18-25, 17-25 to Ramapo.

    The Alfred State volleyball team swept a pair of matches during day one of the St. Joseph's (LI) Tournament. The Lady Spikers defeated New Jersey City 25-14, 25-9, 26-24 and Keystone 26-24, 25-20, 25-19.

    The Alfred State volleyball team will be the #3 seed in the 2014 USCAA Championships next week at SUNY Canton. The Lady Pioneers are 19-3 on the year and have won 16 of their last 17 matches.

    The Alfred State volleyball team raced past Davis College 25-10, 25-1, 25-7 as the team raised funds to support the Allegany County Cancer Services. The pink clad Pioneers improve to 19-3 on the year.
  • Lady Spikers to Trade Blue and Gold for Pink on Friday

    The Alfred State volleyball team will trade their traditional school colors, blue & gold, for pink on Friday evening when they battle Davis College. The Lady Pioneers PINK PRIDE game will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature several fund raisers to benefit the Allegany County Cancer Services.

    The Alfred State volleyball team is ranked #3 for the 4th straight week in the USCAA poll. The Lady Spikers are 17-3 on the year and are winners of 14 of their last 15 matches.

    The Alfred State volleyball team split a pair of matches at Mount Aloysius on Saturday. The Lady Pioneers defeated the hosts, 25-23, 25-20, 25-23, but saw their fourteen match winning streak come to an end in a 25-18, 18-25, 11-25, 16-25 loss to Shenandoah.
  • Lady Pioneers Win 5-Set Thriller over Houghton

    Alfred State kept their winning streak alive in a dramatic 5-set victory (25-23, 27-29, 25-16, 15-25, 15-12) over Houghton on Wednesday night. The Pioneers improve to 16-2 on the year and have won thirteen straight matches.
  • Pfleghardt Honored by ECAC

    Alfred State senior outside hitter Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga) has been named the ECAC Metro/Upstate Player of the Week. Pfleghardt is the second Pioneer athlete this fall to be honored by the ECAC.

    The Alfred State volleyball team held on to its #3 ranking in the latest USCAA poll. The Lady Pioneers have won twelve straight and are 15-2 on the season.

    Junior setter Lera Braun (Waterloo) has been named the USCAA setter of the week. Braun and the Lady Pioneers were 5-0 this past week.

    The Alfred State volleyball team ran their winning streak to a dozen matches as they won a pair of matches at the SUNYIT Tournament on Saturday. The Lady Pioneers are now 15-2 on the season and ranked #3 in the latest USCAA poll.
