Mikaela Snayczuk (Machias/Pioneer), Ryan Gentile (Spencerport), and Westin Perry (Canisteo Greenwood) have been named the Alfred State Athletes of the Week.
Snayczuk led the women's swimming team with a 13th place finishes in the 100 breast (1:13.34) and the 200 breast (2:43.08) and a 21st place finish in the 200 IM (2:24.90). She was also part of four relay teams that scored points for the blue & gold.
Gentile led the Pioneers with 42 points this week as the team split a pair of games. He scored 20 in a 91-87 victory over Houghton and 22 in the team's AMCC opener at Penn State Behrend. He finished the week shooting 46.4% from the field, 7 for 11 from three, and 9 for 11 from the line. He also added seven rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.
Perry continued to etch his name on the NCAA era record board with a strong weekend at the Oberlin Invitational. He won two individual events and set new records in three events over the weekend. He won the 100 back in 52.82 and the 200 back in 1:56.54. Perry also was 6th in the 200 free (1:47.62). He was also part of three relay teams (800 free - 7:20.11, 400 free - 3:18.21, and the 200 medley - 1:38.59) that set new school records.
