The Alfred State women's soccer team closed the 2018 regular season with a contest at Houghton on Tuesday. The Highlanders earned a 3-0 victory to end the Pioneers eight game winning streak.
Kealy DeForest scored the lone goal of the 1st half in the 28th minute. The game remained 1-0 until the 70th minute when Jessica Beattie scored. DeForest added an insurance goal in the 79th minute.
Houghton held a 15 to 6 shot advantage in the game. Madison Papaj (Holley) made four saves for the Pioneers while Saide Dunnett made three saves to record the shutout.
The Pioneers will now shift their focus to the ACAA Tournament this weekend. The Pioneers enter the four-team tournament as the #2 seed and will take on #3 SUNY Delhi in the semifinals on Saturday. The Championships will be held at Finlandia University in Hancock MI.
