Paul Reid was named the wrestling coach in the fall of 2014. Reid begins his third season at the helm of the season and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Pioneer wrestling program.
In 2015-16, he led the Pioneers to a 4th place finish at the USCAA Invitational, a 1st place finish at the NCWA Northeast qualifiers, and a 10th place finish the NCWA National Championships. The Pioneers also had two wrestlers (Ryan Thierman and George VanValen) finish 4th, the highest finish during the NCWA era, at Nationals.
Most recently Reid served as the head assistant wrestling coach at Iowa Western Community College (Council Bluffs, IA). In that position he assisted the head coach in all aspects of the wrestling program. On top of his wrestling duties, Reid was the game management supervisor and taught in the sports science department.
Prior to Iowa Western, Reid was an assistant wrestling coach at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (2009-2011) and at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (2008-2009).
Reid wrestled collegiately at Coe College (Cedar Rapids, IA) where he earned a bachelor's degree in physical education. He then earned a master's in physical education from UNC Pembroke.
