Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) and Karley Fanning (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) have been both named to the All-Region III Division II team. Witchella was a 1st team selection and Fanning was a 2nd team selection.
Witchella started in all 27 games this season and led the team with 457 points (16.9 per game) and 380 rebounds (14.1 per game). She also registered 108 blocks and was credited with 60 steals. The 457 points in a season was 9th most in Alfred State history while the 380 is a new school record.
On the year, Witchella recorded 19 double-doubles, had 11 games in which she scored more than 20 points, and had four games with more than 20 rebounds.
This is the second year in a row that Witchella has been named 1st team All-Region. Last year she the RIII DII Player of the Year. Earlier this winter, Witchella earned 1st team All-Region honors in Indoor Track by winning the shot put competition.
Fanning appeared in 22 games this season and scored 239 points (10.9 per game). She also grabbed 110 rebounds (5 per game) and had 41 assists. She scored 10 points or more in 14 games and scored over 20 points twice. Her season high of 25 points came in a road victory at Genesee CC.
Witchella and Fanning helped the Lady Pioneers to a 19-8 overall record and to an appearance in the Region III Division II Championship game.
