RIT collected 23 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Alfred State on Thursday afternoon. RIT rallied for two runs in the 7th to earn a 7-6 victory in game one and then earned a 11-1 win in game two.
Kristen Jackson (Keshequa) connected on a two-run single in the 1st to give the Lady Pioneers an early lead. RIT answered back a run in the 2nd and took the lead with four runs in the 3rd.
In the 5th, Lynn Wood (Westfield Academy) started the Lady Pioneers four run rally with a RBI bunt single. Stormi Kruger (Medina) plated Wood with a RBI double before Aubri Mosier (Rome, PA) connected on a two-run single to give Alfred State a 6-5 lead.
The Lady Pioneers held the 6-5 lead heading into the 7th but two errors set the table for a one-out walkoff single by Amber Libby.
Jackson was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI while Kruger was 2 for 4 with a RBI.
In the nightcap, Jackson got the Lady Pioneers on the board in the 1st but the Tigers answered back with four of their own in the 1st and never looked back. They scored two in the 2nd and five more in the 3rd to put the game out of reach.
Sierra Valentine held the Lady Pioneers to just two hits to earn her second win of the day. Brittany Griffin led the RIT offenses 11 hit attack with a 2 for 3 day including a two run homer in the 2nd.
The Lady Pioneers head to SUNY Canton on Sunday for a Noon doubleheader with the Kangaroos. Alfred State went 3-1 vs. Canton earlier in the season.
