Finger Lakes CC swept a Region III Division III doubleheader from Alfred State as the Lady Pioneers started a weekend homestand. The Lakers won 13-2 in the opener and escaped with a 4-3 win in the nightcap.
FLCC collected 15 hits and took advantage of six Lady Pioneer errors to take game one. The Lakers had three big innings, scoring three in the 2nd, five in the 6th, and four in the 7th.
Aubri Mosier (Wellsville) was 2 for 2 for Alfred with two long doubles.
In the nightcap, Alfred led 1-0 and 2-1 but FLCC scored two runs with two outs in the 6th to take the lead for good. The Lakers added a run in the 7th and stranded runners on 2nd and 3rd when the final out was recorded.
Mosier continued her solid day with a 3 for 4, 2 RBI performance. Kristen Potter (Harrison Valley, PA/Northern Potter) and Katie Jackson (Troy, PA/Troy) were each 2 for 4. Clarissa Swain (Dansville) pitched well but took the loss. She allowed eight hits and four runs while walking four and striking out three in seven innings of work.
The Lady Pioneers continue their weekend homestand on Saturday when they take on Genesee CC in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
