AJ Soto behind the net

The Alfred State lacrosse team fell behind early and could never fully recover as they fell 14-8 to SUNY Poly on a sun filled Sunday afternoon at Pioneer Stadium.

Joe Johnson (Churchville Chili) scored 36 seconds into the game but SUNY Poly scored the next eight goals to take control of the game. Cole Reuben (Akron) scored to make it 8-2 and after two more Wildcat goals Teddy Alvarado (Hilton) found the back of the net. A late goal gave SUNY Poly an 11-3 lead at half.

The Pioneers scored three of the four goals in the 3rd quarter. Branden Dickson (Bath) scored twice and Reuben scored his second of the game. In the 4th, both teams scored twice with Nic Covelli (Carmel) and Eric Passeck (Thomaston, CT) scoring for the Pioneers.

Reuben and Dickson both scored twice while Alvarado finished with a goal and an assist. Nathan Crowley (West Irondequoit) led the team with eight ground balls.

Charlie Rosaschi led the Wildcats (2-0) with five goals and one assist while Eddie Rosaschi passed out a game high five assists. Chase LeCava recorded a hat trick while Daniel Rivie and Devin Roes scored twice.

Jared Laird made 14 saves in net to record the victory while Matt Cobb (Churchville) made 10 saves in relief (48:25) for the Pioneers.
