  • Quartet of Lacrosse Players Named All-WNYAC

    Four members of the Alfred State lacrosse team have been named All-WNYAC following the 2013 campaign. Brandon Griffin (Corning East) and Michael Alessi (Liverpool) were named 1st team while Bradley Murdoch (Auburn) and Keegan Phalen (East Aurora) were 2nd team selections.

    Brandon Griffin (Corning East) registered 13 points in three games this past week for the Alfred State lacrosse team. For his solid play, Griffin has been named the Alfred State athlete of the week.

    The Alfred State lacrosse team fell behind early and never could recover as they fell 20-6 to Monroe CC on a blustery Saturday afternoon. With the loss the Pioneers end the season with a 4-8 record.
  • Griffin Nets Seven as Pioneers Win Home Finale

    Brandon Griffin (Corning East) found the back of the net seven times as the Alfred State lacrosse team closed out the home portion of their season with a 14-6 victory over Niagara CCC. The win improves the Pioneers to 4-7 and 3-3 in Region III Western Division play.

    Mike Alessi (Liverpool) has been named the Alfred State athlete of the week by the Sports Information office after a solid performance in goal for the lacrosse team.
  • Pioneers Fall to Hornets in Completion of Suspended Game

    The Alfred State lacrosse team traveled to Broome CC to complete their contest that was suspended last Wednesday due to lightning. Alfred trailed 6-1 at half and was never able to fully recover and fell 11-5.
  • Pioneers Down Mercyhurst North East

    The Alfred State lacrosse team won a critical Region III Western Division contest 7-6 over Mercyhurst North East to keep their playoff hopes alive. Alfred State is now 3-6 overall and 2-2 in Region III West Division play.

    Alfred State and Broome CC will continue their contest suspended by lightning on Wednesday (4/10) will be finished on Monday April 15. The game will completed at Broome CC starting at 4 p.m.

    Alfred State and CCBC (MD) Catonsville battled back and forth in a highly competitive contest on Friday afternoon. The Cardinals outscored the Pioneers 4 to 2 in the 3rd quarter which proved to be the difference in a 11-9 contest.

    The Alfred State lacrosse team finally opened up the home portion of their season but could not overcome a slow start and fell 16-8 to Finger Lakes CC. The Lakers took a 7-1 lead and never trailed by less than five goals the rest of the way.

    Alfred State sophomore Keegan Phalen (East Aurora) has been named the Alfred State athlete of the week after leading the Pioneer lacrosse team with seven goals this past week including six in the team's victory over Cayuga CC

    The Alfred State lacrosse team trailed 5-3 at halftime but scored 11 of the games 12 goals in the 2nd half to race to a 14-6 victory over Cayuga CC. The Pioneers end their season opening six game road trip with a 2-4 mark.
  • #3 Genesee Defeats Pioneers

    The #3 ranked Cougars from Genesee CC defeated Alfred State 17-6 in the Pioneers first Region III Western Division contest. The Cougars improve to 7-0 on the year while the blue & gold are 1-4.
  • Lacrosse Tripped up by Del Tech

    Delaware Tech used a solid first five minutes of the 2nd half to add to their 9-5 halftime lead en route to a 21-12 victory over Alfred State on Tuesday afternoon. The game was the third in four days for the blue & gold.

    Union County College led 4-2 at halftime and didn't allow Alfred State back into the contest en route to a 10-5 victory. The Pioneers fall to 1-2 on the young season.

    Snow, low temperatures, and wind have forced the cancellation of today's Alfred State lacrosse game at St. John Fisher JV. The two teams are working on finding a date to make-up the contest but no date has been chosen.
  • Delhi Game Moved to Oneonta

    Alfred State's lacrosse game scheduled for Saturday at SUNY Delhi has been moved to SUNY Oneonta. The game will now start at 3 p.m.

    The Alfred State lacrosse team opened up their 2013 season with an impressive 16-10 victory over Mohawk Valley CC. The Pioneers led 16-2 at a time in the 4th quarter before the Hawks.

    The Alfred State lacrosse team is just weeks away from opening up practice for the 2013 season. The Pioneers will look to build on their 7-9 record in 2012 and make a return to the Region III Tournament.

    The postseason awards for the Alfred State lacrosse team have come in and Mike Hart (Ajax, ONT) was named 2nd team All-Region and 1st team All-WNYAC. Attackmen Chance Lowry (Waterloo) and goalie Brad Stowell (Marcellus) were both named 2nd team All-WNYAC.
  • Witchella and Phelan Named Fr. Athletes of the Year

    Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) of the Alfred State women's basketball team and Keegan Phelan (East Aurora) who played on both the football and lacrosse teams were honored as the athletic department's Freshman Athletes of the Year.
  • Pioneers Down #9 HVCC in Season Finale

    The Alfred State lacrosse team was able to come out on top of a close home contest for the first time this season. The Pioneers defeated #9 ranked Hudson Valley CC 11-10 to close out the season with a 7-9 mark. The Pioneers had lost four close home contests earlier in the season by a combined four goals.
