Alfred State Partners with Special Olympics for Track Spectacular

The Alfred State athletic department has partnered with Special Olympics and will be hosting the 2nd annual Special Olympics Track & Field Spectacular at Pioneer Stadium on Friday April 25.

The event will feature nearly 100 athletes from local schools  competing in track events (400 m, 200 m, 100 m , 50 m, 25 m, and relays) and field events (shot put, softball throw, long jump, and standing long jump).  Every participant can compete in one running event and one field event.

Action begins at 9:45 a.m. with Opening Ceremonies with the track events slated to start at 10:15 a.m.  After a break for lunch the field events at approximately Noon.  Awards for each of the heats of the events will be given out right after the competition of the event.

The public is invited to come cheer on these athletes and enjoy the competition. 

The Special Olympics is a partner of DIII of the NCAA.  Through this partnership, Division III student-athletes across the country are encouraged to participate in existing Special Olympics events, create their own events, or otherwise serve to support Special Olympics organization.
