Cross Country: 

The cross country team had the weekend off as they prepare for the New York State Championships on Oct. 26.

Football: 2-4

The Pioneers were defeated 38-13 at the University of Rochester.  The blue & gold were scheduled to have the weekend off but because of the government shutdown U of R's scheduled opponent Merchant Marine has to cancel and the Pioneers stepped in.

Dean Kennedy was the difference rushing for 120 yards and two scores and passing for 152 yards and two scores.

Rasheed Williams (Sweedsboro) rushed for 72 yards and a score on 19 carries, Greg Hampton (Uniondale) was 20 for 37 for 193 yards, and Devin Simmons (Elmira Free) caught nine passes for 89 yards.

Nick DePofi (Union Endicott) led the defense with six tackles and a sack while Keegan Phalen (East Aurora) added six tackles.  Matt Munson (Clyde Savanah) also had a sack.

U of R finished with 400 yards of offense while Alfred had 295.  Alfred was just 5 of 17 on 3rd down and 1 of 5 on 4th down.  The Pioneers were also slowed down by nine penalties.

Men's Soccer: 3-9

The blue & gold had a busy week finishing 2-2. They defeated Hilbert 3-2, fell 5-0 to Houghton and 3-1 to SUNY Canton, and finished the week with a 1-0 victory over Erie CC.

Kyle Jones (Wilson) scored two goals in the win over Hilbert while Mitchell Porter (Alfred Almond) scored the lone goal in the win over ECC on a penalty kick.  Philip Smith (Odessa Montour) and Nick Peraino (Geneseo) also scored this week.

Nick Smith (Arkport) was in net for all four games on the week making 25 saves.  He made three saves in the shutout victory over the Kats.

Women's Soccer: 8-3-1, #5 in the USCAA

The Lady Pioneers were 1-1-1 on the week. They defeated Hilbert 4-0, tied Penn College 1-1, and fell to NCAA DII Clarion 3-0.

Kali Muhleisen (Alfred Almond) netted two goals on the week to improve her team leading goal total to 16.  Hunter Pierce (Livonia), Ally Vargeson (Addison), and Keri Teufel (Sachem) also scored this week.

Krista DeCarlo (West Islip) was in net for all 290 minutes this week.  She made 21 saves and recorded her 5th shutout of the year in the victory over Hilbert.

Volleyball: 14-8, #12 in the USCAA

The Lady Spikers traded their traditional uniforms for pink jerseys on Thursday as they defeated D'Youville 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-20) in their annual "Dig Pink" game.

Rebecca Hanrahan (Greene) led the way with nine kills and two blocks while Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga) finished with 10 digs and eight kills.  Lera Braun (Waterloo) finished with 29 assists, eight digs, and three kills, Jess Ramsey (Tioga) had 19 digs, and Jessica Padley (Buffalo/Sweet Home) chipped in five kills.

The Lady Pioneers held numerous fundraisers raising funds for the Side-Out Foundation and their battle to end breast cancer.
