Weekly Events

2012-13 Athletic Year is completed

Baseball: 21-28, 17-13 Region III Division III

The Pioneers finished their season with two victories in three games.  The team narrowly missed a chance at postseason finishing 5th in the Region III Division III Western Division.

Jordyn Confer (Tioga, PA/Williamson) had a big week collecting two hits in three at bats and pitching 4.2 innings of relief to earn a victory in the come-from-behind victory over Niagara.  Ryan Hierlwimmer (Livonia) hit .600 (6 for 10) on the week with 4 RBI while Steven Stapleton (Williamsville/Sweet Home) hit .500 (3 for 6).

Track & Field: Men: 3rd, Women 6th at NJCAA National Championships

The Alfred State track & field team capped their season with a solid performance at the 2013 NJCAA DIII National Championships.  The men finished 3rd out of 19 teams that scored while the women were 6th out of 21 teams that scored.

Billie Carroll (Rochester/Edison) led the way with two National Championships.  She won 100 hurdles (16.90) and the triple jump (10.73 m).  Nicole Lipa (Lockport/Newfane) finished 2nd in the pole vault with a leap of 2.76 m.

On the men's side, Brian Edwards (Neversink/Tri-Valley) and Robert Howard (Syracuse/Henninger) won National Titles.  Edwards won the discus (43.21 m) and Howard won the shot put (14.84 m).  Edwards also was 3rd in the shot put (13.95 m).

Travis Nagle (Randolph) was 2nd in the pole vault (4.33 m) while the 4x100 relay (42.64) and the 4x400 relay (3:19.89) both took 2nd place.  The 4x100 relay team consisted of Desmond Chambers (Rochster/Gates Chili), Ismail El-Amin (Rochester/Wilson), Brian Tubbs (Chemung/Waverly), and Zachary Woodard (Adams Center/South Jefferson) while the 4x400 team was Nate Andres (Arcade/Pioneer), Josiah Thomas (Rochster/John Marshall), Tubbs, and El-Amin (Woodard ran in the prelims)

The Pioneer men scored 91 points and trailed only Howard (MD) CC's 172 and Harper (IL) College's 126 while the women scored 47 points and were just two points behind 5th place.  Gloucester (NJ) County College won with 136.5 points.
